世界中のさまざまな地域で語られてきた、古代の地球像を描いた映像インスタレーションです。現在の地球はひとつの惑星として共有されていますが、古代においては、それぞれの土地の文化や社会を反映した多様な存在でした。本作では、大きさや厚み、紙質の異なる束見本を手に取り、空間に浮かぶさまざまな地球を巡るように鑑賞します。さらに、非同期で動作する5台の指向性スピーカーを用いることで、鑑賞者のタイミングや動きによって異なる音や映像の組み合わせが生まれ、一人ひとりの体験に違いが生じるような仕掛けを取り入れました。異なる世界像が交わるように、それぞれの視点や感じ方が行き交う場所となることを目指し、《イデアの広場》としました。
展示期間中には音楽家の岡本憲昭氏を招き、ライブ上映も実施。参加者が着席しながら手元の本、隣者との関係、そして空間全体へと視点を多層的に移行させていく上映手法は、のちの《一粒の記憶》へと引き継がれています。
「キッズ・プログラム2015 しくみのひみつ アイデアのかたち」（NTTインターコミュニケーションセンター/ ICC）にて制作・発表しました。
A video installation depicting ancient visions of the Earth, as told across various regions of the world. Today the Earth is shared as a single planet, but in ancient times, it was many different things, each reflecting the culture and society of its own land. In this work, viewers hold sample books of varying sizes, thicknesses, and paper textures, and experience it as though wandering among the various Earths floating in space. Five asynchronous directional speakers further ensure that the combination of sound and image differs depending on each viewer's timing and movement, incorporating a device through which differences arise in each individual's experience. Aspiring to become a place where different visions of the world intersect—where each person's viewpoint and way of feeling can come and go—the work was called "Square of Idea."
During the exhibition, a live performance screening was held featuring musician Noriaki Okamoto. This screening format—where seated viewers seamlessly shift their perspective between the book in hand, their relationship with neighbors, and the surrounding room—was carried over into the later work A Grain of Memory.
Created and presented for "Kids Program 2015: The Secret of Mechanisms - The Shape of Ideas" at the NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC].
