Solo Exhibition "a VIEW in the SQUARE" at Funabashi Andersen Park Children's Museum (Chiba). This exhibition was a touring show following my first solo exhibition at Kasugai City Cultural Forum Gallery. The layout was reconfigured to fit the museum space, allowing visitors of all ages—from children to adults—to intuitively experience the charm of pixel animation and the wonders of visual perception.

A Small yet Vast World of Animation
Smartphones, tablets, digital signage, and train displays—over the past decade or so, moving images have become an omnipresent part of our daily lives. While video media delivers a wide array of information, what forms these images are tiny square lights called "pixels".Images are projected through countlessly combined pixels, much like building blocks. The title of this exhibition, "a VIEW in the SQUARE" (Shikakui Keshiki), refers to these very pixels.

It was in 2009 when I first created a work focused on pixels. The first iPhone was released in 2007, and analog television broadcasting came to an end in 2011.As our viewing environment shifted from analog electrical signals like CRT televisions and magnetic tapes toward LCD monitors and digital data, I was searching for new possibilities in animation expression. Thirteen years have passed since then.

Television has entered the era of ultra-high-definition 4K broadcasting, and computer graphics have become so realistic they are nearly indistinguishable from live-action footage.New video platforms like YouTube and TikTok have emerged, intertwining video content with our daily lives in every conceivable way.

The works exhibited here represent another, small history of moving images—one pursued quietly alongside this grand history of video media.Though a personal endeavor slightly removed from the mainstream, it is a accumulation of my own sense of beauty and interest.I hope you discover the charm of pixel animation in this small yet vast world of animation.
