海岸で拾い集めた石に、ピクセルアートを刻んだ作品群です。石の形や色、模様を手がかりにAIが生成した物語の一場面を、石の表面に彫り込んでいます。
波や風、摩擦や圧力によって長い時間をかけて形づくられた石と、確率的な揺らぎから一度きりの言葉を紡ぎ出すAI。物質世界と仮想世界におけるふたつの「偶然」を、人間の手によってひとつの石の上に結び直しています。
自然も、テクノロジーも、人の意思も、より大きな視点から見れば、すべてはひとつの「運動」のあらわれなのかもしれません。どれも二度と同じ姿では繰り返されませんが、その一つひとつには、それぞれ異なる時間が積み重なっています。私たちがものを受け取るときに感じる確かさ。それは、背後にある時間の厚みそのものではないでしょうか。
ここでは、目の前に立ち現れては消えていく電気の物語を掬い取り、それを石の時間に託しています。時間のない演算の世界を、時間のなかに置く試みです。2025年、グループ展「知覚する装置」（DDD ART／東京）にて初公開しました。
A series of works in which pixel art is engraved onto stones gathered from the shore. Taking the shape, color, and markings of each stone as its cue, an AI generates a scene from a story, which is then carved into the stone's surface.
A stone, shaped over immense stretches of time by waves and wind, by friction and pressure; an AI, spinning out once-only words from probabilistic fluctuation. Two kinds of "chance"—one belonging to the material world, the other to the virtual—are tied back together on a single stone by human hands.
Nature, technology, human will: seen from a wider vantage point, all of them may be expressions of a single "movement." None of it ever recurs in the same form, and yet each carries its own accumulation of time. The solidity we feel when we take something in—might that be the very thickness of the time behind it?
Here the work scoops up the electric story that rises into view and vanishes again, and entrusts it to the stone's time. It is an attempt to set the timeless world of computation into time. First presented in 2025 in the group exhibition "The Architecture of Perceiving" (DDD ART, Tokyo).
